After settling into the new apartment (and having more space), we finally opened this drum set which we bought for Joel when he was 1 year old.

This photo shoot was free!

I had received an SMS about a week ago but i ignored it becoz it was in Chinese (which i couldnt read). But i knew it was something about the birthday party at Gymboree on Saturday. Then on Friday morning, i finally remembered to show Elvis the SMS, and he said all kids who signed up for the party can go to this studio and have a photo taken for FREE! It will be printed to a poster and brought to the party. So, i quickly called the studio and made an appointment to go down in the afternoon. Fortunately, they said that they could get the poster out in time for the party on the next day.

I picked the (green) scene at the studio becoz it's one of the simplest and i liked how the sunlight shone in through the windows.

It was a bit difficult to shoot Joel becoz he couldnt follow the instructions that the photographer gave (although i thought it was a bit challenging for a 2 year old kid too). Nonetheless, i managed to pick the "best" photo with ease. For each additional photo that we want to keep, we have to pay a fee for it. Joel's stingy parents bought just 9 - including the best shot. ;)

Joel lost weight when he fell sick in Singapore. Made everyone so sad...

Happy to announce that he's chubby again! Got his double-chin back too! Chubby cheeks once more. ;)

cheap small things

Today, i went to Cheng Huang Miao to look at those "small things" 小东西. It's been a while since i last went there to FuYou Road, 福佑门商厦. Before i had Joel, i sometimes like to take the bus down to take a look at stuffs and perhaps buy some small items for my GYS swaps. Cheap stationery, necklaces, ear-rings, hairclips etc... Everything there is 'Wholesale Price'! (Even if you dont buy in bulk, you can still get them at cheaper prices than regular shops)

Bus No. 932 is the only route i'm very sure of. It's a straight bus from my house to Cheng Huang Miao (last stop). To get home, i just need to wait at the same "terminal" (there's only this bus). People there stand in line too! Haha! Service No. 932 also comes very quickly (usually less than 3mins) and i can reach there within 15mins. Most of the time i will take a cab home becoz i'm too tired and/or have too many things to carry.

When i reached the bus stop, i checked to see if 932 still goes to CHM. It does. And it is still only ¥2. When i looked up, the bus was here! So i quickly flagged for it.

The bus wasnt crowded but there was no empty seat. So i stood near the back door. At the next stop, an aunty was about to alight, and she said, "Little Missy, beware of my boxes". She has 2 huge plastic storage boxes she just bought from the supermart. I was pleasantly surprised! She's so nice! (These boxes are very popular after winter coz everybody stores away their jackets and quilts)

I took her 1-seater and noticed some changes on the bus... The magazine is gone. Instead, the magazine pocket has some rubbish in it. The driver has a small screen showing the people alighting from the back door. There's TV Mobile. The LED screen also shows the temperature - 28˚C. It still shows the stops in Chinese & English...and the announcement too!

Along the way, i looked at the food stalls, street signs, handsome people, Times Square, Zara, the bright sun, old lane-houses, old couples looking so blissful, young children playing, bridal shops with funny-looking gowns... I really enjoyed the bus ride.

Sometimes, we'll see Joel inside his play yard without his pants on! It always makes us laugh. Look at those short legs and fat thighs!!! And that naughty face! Haha...

Answer: He stands up, steps on the bottom and slowly wriggles his fat butt out! (Only works on home pants with elastic waistbands)

bath time

Naked Joel! Super cute, right? Coz he's enjoying his bath...but i'm sorry i cant let him play with the water for long coz it's super cold and the water also gets cold fast even though i turn on the heater in the room. We're still using our room with the tub on a chair...then we transfer him to the bed when he's done...and dress him quickly. Brrrr...

(The weather has been crazy since last week...from 15/20˚C dropped to below 10˚C again! Think some days even will have minus when it rains!!! Now, it's 0˚C at 1AM)

P.S. Actually, i do wonder how other people bathe for their babies (who cant stand yet).

eating junk

Lately, Joel has been putting rubbish into his mouth - tissue paper, paper, plastics... Whenever i spot him "suddenly so quiet", acting sheepishly (sometimes he even gets a fright when i walk towards him) AND moving his mouth, i will pry open his mouth. (Yes, PRY)

Then, this little boy will cry very loudly with LOTS OF TEARS streaming down his chubby face. Really looks very poor thing! So i will give him a hug once the junk is removed. When he stops crying, he will look very angry too! You can see from the last 2 pictures he is boxing his own cheeks!!! :(

he's really tired

On Vday, we had some time to eat together before Daddy went to work...so we had brunch dimsum at Crystal Jade. After that, all of us went down to the shoot/studio. Everyone was amused with Joel including the British director & crew. I could tell that Elvis felt like a proud Daddy. They were "walking around" in his little blue boots. Haha!

This is a funny picture i took of Joel napping while we had dimsum. He was also eating his porridge about 5 mins before this...then he didnt want to eat, made a little fuss...scratched my hands (as always) and just fell asleep in the highchair! So cute! The people sitting at other tables and the waitresses (who adores Joel) were all laughing! ;)

Anyway, Elvis came home from the shoot about 4am (they wrapped up earlier than expected)...and the 2 boys are sleeping now. It's Joel's 1st nap of the day.

Think we'll just stay home today and order delivery since the temperature dropped again. Yday was very cold too. That's Spring - unpredictable.
