cool!

http://YourGen.com/ - Text Generator
supposed to be the glitter text 'baby Joel' (but there was an error somehow)
A bit of lian, and a bit of cool! Keke...

the spree has begun!

Since i started buying those bermudas for baby a week ago, it's been getting kinda addictive!!! Haha! Everywhere i go, i'll tend to look at (some) baby stuff. O NO!!! NOW, even Papa Elvis said he bought cute tshirts for our little one from babyGap. Elvis Junior is such a lucky baby! Very much loved indeed! ;D

meet squooshy

This is Squooshy! He's a bear i bought for Elvis when he was living alone in Bangkok - made of super soft fabric and filled with millions of micro foam beads. (It's like Mogu products) Since i got pregnant and it became so uncomfortable to sleep with this (huge) tummy, i bought extra pillows and a bodypillow, but it still wasnt easy to find the right sleeping position.

But since i took over Squooshy one month ago, I found Squooshy to be PERFECT for sleeping! It literally conforms to the shape of my tummy, and curves...and even gives my baby a big bear hug! Haha! ;)

seasons change

A few days ago, i met up with a friend who's currently going through a divorce. And because they were married barely 2 years, they filed for annulment of the marriage instead - which would be better for her anyway. The collapse of the marriage was an ugly one right from the start - with the guy showing his true selfish, stingy, petty small-minded nature (even though he is from an extremely rich family background). Even the bling bling jewels which they bought for her for the wedding (probably to show off their wealth) were asked to be returned - including the wedding band and engagement ring. I would think that IF they were merely 'boyfriend-girlfriend', perhaps it's only right to return them. But since they were lawfully 'Married', it's ok for her to keep them. After all, those are not his family heirloom.

Although there wasnt any 3rd party involved, all these left me thinking of how Man's feelings can change so suddenly - and drastically.

Only God's love for us never change and never fails.
Thank you, Lord.

7000 miles

Elvis is about 7000 miles apart from us and with a 7-hr time difference in London, it's quite difficult to catch him at the "right time". I've been wanting to call him at the hotel (his bedtime) so that the IDD/mobile bills are less expensive, but that means i'll have to wake up before the sun rises.

Anyway, we've managed to talk during our day, and i was really glad to know that Elvis had time to enjoy London during this working trip. (During his previous trip to Beijing for 1 month, he didnt even get to do any sightseeing!) Over the weekends, they went to see the sights - Notting Hill, Big Ben, London Eye, flea markets and even watched The Police concert, and football match LIVE between London & Israel! He must have seen London in all its magnificence. He said that he should have brought me along for this trip, but i think i'll be too fat and clumpsy to roam around the streets. Heehee... Anyway, it'll also burn a hole in his pocket for me to fly from Singapore, and to bear with the 12-hr flight alone. Elvis loves the "British atmosphere", and said that he wants to bring baby & i there next time. I felt sooo touched and loved.
(I'm reminded once again of the wonderful time we had in Paris last year - that even the AIR feels different!)

The last time i went to London was 15 years ago, so to refresh my memory, i did a search to get a feel of what he's feeling at the moment...

Thank God for such a loving, loveable and lovely husband and papa.

Baby, we've found the right sugar daddy who's sooo sweet...and he's missing us every minute - except when he's busy with work. But it's for yummy food, nice clothes and holidays, okay. Hahaha... Yippie! ;D

baby's first clothes

Yday, mama went for a detailed scan at NUH's Antenatal Diagnostic Centre. I had thought that it'll be a 3D (or rather 4D) scan, but turned out that's not done between 22-24 weeks, so it's just the "normal scan" plus detailed scanning of the organs etc.

Here's another picture of baby at 23 weeks - not very different from my usual scan pictures, but it's good to see baby again. ;)

After that, i met up with Janis & Gwen (with her 2 kids in tow) at IMM for lunch. We saw a FOX kids fair at the atrium, and Janis kept asking me to buy the baby boys clothes coz they were cute (though not half as cute as the girls'). I thought it was silly of me to buy so them so early, but she assured me it was OK.

Heehee... So, shopaholic mama ended up with these bermudas for baby (all blue, no baby-licious pink??) ...and some things for herself too! Oops... ;p

Papa Elvis is going to London today. It's a 12-hr flight from Shanghai. I've asked him not to buy anything for mama since i'm so fat now. Shop for baby & himself will do. =)

P.S. Hmm...I need to find some nice & cute baby tees to match the cool bermudas!

guilty mama

Yday i was out with some friends, and i lost control again. I bought more clothes! Almost everyone was late, so Becky & i splurged!

In fact, just on Friday, i reached Orchard a bit earlier (and my friend was late too), so i just walked around look-see-look-see & bought a dress - which i can wear from now until my fullterm. That is a really GOOD reason to buy it besides the fact that it was ON SALE! I was also very tempted to buy another dress which i could probably wear for the next 1-2 months, but decided to think about it coz it was kinda expensive - and not on sale. Now, i should stop thinking of it. God, please help to get that lovely white shift dress outta my mind!

I need to think more of BABY BABY BABY - the expensive bottle sterilizer, breast pump, baby cot, playpen, milk bottles, more milk bottles, baby clothes, more baby clothes, diapers, and yes, that LV diaper bag!

"Elvis! Baby & mummy needs a diaper bag! Do u read this?"

our 22 weeks baby

Went to see the gynae again, baby has grown so much! Almost double of what he weighed 3 weeks ago! Wow! Maybe it's time i eat less - chocolates, bubble tea, chocolate sundae & ice-cream. ;p

I think he has big eyes like Elvis' too...and a sharp nose. Heehee...

Gosh, i've put on 6.5kg...and baby is only 500grams of it!

I'll be going for my detailed scanning later this week, will update the pictures.

baby terry

Maybe it's time i write about baby Terry again. After he was lost-&-found, he went through a rough patch. We sent him for grooming, and days after he came back, we realised there's ticks and fleas on him! (We are really terrified of the big fat juicy fleas - feeding on poor Terry!) I was wondering if he had gotten them while he was at the SPCA. But my sis said it's from the groomers.

We bathe and applied medication for him, and it's much better now. Here's a picture of him all cuddled up (just like my baby) & sleeping very soundly on his doggy-faced pillow. He has a bed too, but we think he likes this pillow much more! ;)

boy-meets-girl, boy gets shy

"It's not always easy being a stallion, you know, I'm not particularly well-endowed, I'm kind of shy, and I don't enjoy chasing the females. I prefer to cuddle up with a nice collection of poetry and a cup of herbal tea..."

No wonder so many of our girlfriends are still unattached! ...not particularly well-endowed, kinda shy, dont enjoy chasing men, prefer to shop and enjoy a cup of herbal tea too!

AND to make things worse,
all the good-looking men are Married,
all the good-looking and single men are Gays!

mums know best

I've a few friends who have blogs on their babies - some before they were even born! It's like an anticipation for the baby's arrival. I love to read them coz i get to see how much their little ones have grown, and the happy/funny insights into their lives as an Amazing Trio! Despite my "not liking kids much" (unless they are cute), through their blogs, i'm beginning to see that maybe kids DO perfect a family. U'll even learn to sympathize with them if there's any mishaps like a bump or ailment - how they are coping with it, and feeling (esp the mothers who will be most heartbroken).

Now that the baby is inside of me, should i ought to be the one who knows best??? A few weeks ago, I started to feel him move - kinda like "butterflies in my stomach" - but i really dont know what is going on inside! Can baby really feel what i'm feeling, hear what i hear? Is he hungry? Haha...

Elvis thinks that i will be a lazy mum - discounting the kid of things...
Eg 1. When i told him that some people have told me not to feed the baby at night, so that the baby can be trained to sleep through the night, he says that i'm just trying to find the easy way out.

Eg 2. When i told him that i liked those strollers (like the one on the picture...sooo pretty huh!) coz its material is thin and not too hot in our climate (or use it during summer in Shanghai), he says i'm trying to save the trouble of carrying a heavy stroller. BUT, i seriously think that the kid will feel hot and sticky in those heavily-padded strollers leh... (And they were the only styles we had back in the 70s) Besides, i'm not referring to buying it now for a newborn baby! It's more for toddlers/bigger kids ma... ;p

I sometimes think that Elvis will be the one who fusses over our kid non-stop!

Daddy knows best!
Mummy says, "Phew!" ;)

baby's 1st toy

Earlier this year, I wrote an entry about "vintage" Monchichi dolls. I saw them while shopping in Shanghai, and went gaga over them! They were sooo classic and cute! But I didnt buy any coz it was too expensive. ;p

Then one day when Elvis & i were shopping, i showed them to him! (Of course, he didnt know about Monchichis) He also thinks that the Monchichi animal handpuppets were really cute - the lamb, rabbit & bear! He offered to buy 1 for me, but i said, "No lah, i dont want it. Next time if we have a baby, then u buy for baby, ok?" He agreed, and we walked on.

Sometime in May, we found out that we're having a baby. I guess (in the beginning) we were both surprised and scared at the thought of being parents. Anyway, on one of our usual weekends out, we saw a Monchichi shop again and Elvis said happily that he'll buy that handpuppet for OUR BABY! I was sooo touched that he remembered what we said a few months ago. So we walked in and left happily with a Lamb Monchichi just like this one! Very cute huh!

It's baby's 1st toy from daddy! ;)

P.S. Elvis' cellphone has been acting up these few days, and i asked him to go buy another phone (esp since he cant do w/o one for his London trip 2 weeks later). But he said he wanna save $ for Elvis Junior. Wah!!! So touched!

flashes

I've been kinda free lately, and perhaps also feeling a bit more energetic in my 2nd trimester that i keep viewing the playback on my camera for some of the shots we took a few months back. I also miss Elvis a little. (He'll only be back in Spore again end-Sept) And since I'm in Singapore & he's in Shanghai (and jet-setting for the next few months), i guess i ought to update more often - for him to feel connected to me & baby. He's my all-time faithful blog reader since i got started! ;)

Here's some shots we took as we gobble down yummy hotdogs for dinner. Cirque du Soleil ~ Quidam was in Shanghai for the 1st time, and we managed to get tickets at the last minute. The tickets were quite expensive at ¥880/S$176 each (fyi, VIP seats would cost ¥2000). The whole day was a mad rush for both of us (including fighting for taxis at peak hours). The show was pretty good and entertaining till the end. We went for supper after that coz we were really starving by then. Heehee... ;)

During the show's interval, we saw in the skies a "flying light" and was wondering what could that be (a UFO???). I just realised at the NDP Fireworks Celebration last week that it was a remote-control kite with lights! Haha! How cool!

And here's a shot i like very much - of one of our lazy Sunday along XingLe/ChangLe roads.

baby characteristics

I'm halfway through my 40-weeks pregnancy, and starting to wonder who will baby take after...

Papa's traits:
- not tall, short legs, and a relatively "longer body"
- huge eyes, nose, lips, and of course, a big head to match...but still quite handsome nonetheless
- loves to shop

Mama's traits:
- petite
- small eyes, sharp nose, small head
- absolutely loves to shop

Despite Papa's expensive taste, he said we shouldnt spoil the kid, and we should just buy clothes from Giordano Junior & Bossini Kids for Elvis Junior. I cant agree more! Father & son should wear the SAME! How cute! ;p

baby names

Elvis & i havent decided on a name for our little one...becoz we cant agreed with each other - yet. I wanted names starting with either C (to match his surname Chau) or E (to match Elvis')...

Elvis only voted for Cyan Chau... which seems rather weird to me coz like CMYK and it literally means ~ light blue-green (???!!!). Hmm... And I wanted:
Ethan ~ strong, firm
Caleb ~ faithful, bold

Cant think of any other names for now...and i'm just hoping Elvis will relent and agree on Ethan! Our little one sure looks like an Ethan to me! Haha! ;)

fat parents

When Elvis was here in Singapore during the National Day period, we managed to squeeze in a short break to Bintan. Here's some pictures of fat papa & mama-to-be. Somehow, Elvis got some of the pregnant syndromes too - bloatedness + burping, weight gain + tummy, varicose veins... Hmm...???
Baby is much bigger too (at 19 weeks)! He's looking at u! ;)
I specifically asked doctor not to give me a frontal face shot again (coz the skull looks kinda scary)...but seems like baby likes to look at the camera and SMILE! And he likes to move around so much - doing acrobatic stunts - during the scans! ;)

Baby: 300 grams

We managed to get great seats to the National Day Parade at the Ritz Carlton Suite! Heehee...

The fireworks display was awesome coz it was right in front of our face!

no prize for guessing who this is

And our lil' Jo turned out to be an Elvis Junior.
