achoo... x 3

Last night, Elvis & i could feel the flu bug coming... I took 1 flu tablet before i slept but i still started sneezing this morning. Achhooo~ Joel has been sleeping with us for the past week becoz he was sick and cries a little in the middle of the night. He would sleep better if he slept next to us.

Joel's mucas is still quite thick and yellowish. Problem is...he doesnt like to wipe his nose (perhaps coz its painful?) and he doesnt know how to blow his nose yet. He was given a sea-salt spray and cough mixture which he doesnt like to drink. He's still active in the day and has a good appetite.

We went to the paediatrician at Parkway Health for the first time. (Yes, that's the same one from Singapore) It's housed within RuiJin Hospital which is very near our house. We waited 45-mins past our appointment time before we got to see the doctor. During this time, Joel didnt fuss as he played with the Ikea wooden toys with a little girl who spoke French & Mandarin (不要, 不要).

The overall experience with the paediatrician was reasonably good. She was patient and gentle with Joel. However, the nurses seemed unhelpful and lazy (which is mostly the case in all hospitals here except Suntec-Medical which we used to go to). It was a little cumbersome to have to go to the 3rd floor to collect the medicine and pay at the cashier. (Although this is very common in ALL hospitals to have this step-by-step system.) The only downside was that the bill came up to ¥1338 (a whopping S$270!!!) We're asked to go back again 2 days later - on Saturday - to make sure that his cough/cold did not worsen. I wonder how much extra we would have to pay on the follow-up visit.

P.S. I took a glance at the price list at the cashier... The paediatrician consultation is ¥1128/approx S$230. (Suntec-Medical is ¥300, and the Raffles Medical which we go to in Singapore is S$45.) AND a natural birth delivery cost ¥60,000/approx S$12, 000. It's a right decision not to have any more kids.
