(jō′əl, el′)

Some say that 'Joel' is a girls' name.
Some say a unisex name.
Most babyname websites i checked say it's a boys' name.
What's your say?

Some say it should pronounced as 'jo' [silent 'el'].
Some say it should be spelt as 'Joelle' coz 'Joel' is a girls' name.
This is the pronunciation (click) that came up...

(jō′əl, el′)
How would you pronounce it?

Joel sound good to me...How it came about its nice. Name is a blessing given to the child by his parents. As long as it brings the baby good luck. Joelle is a gal's name. Joel is masculine. love it! BTW, any chinese name to go along???

In the U.S. - Joelle is a girl's name and Joel is definitely a boy's name and would be pronounced like Jul (rhymes with bowl).
